Robbie Findley heading to TFC

TFC used the 6th pick in today's Stage 1 of the 2014 Re-Entry Draft to select striker Robbie Findley who was formally with Real Salt Lake. Rogers was 1 of only 3 players selected in the 1st Stage.

On December 1st, Findley's contract was declined by RSL after the team fell to the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference Semifinals making him eligible for the Re-Entry Draft.

Robbie Findley is currently 29 years of age and entered the league in 2007 after turning professional.

Findley appeared last year in only 16 matches and netting just one goal after having knee surgery this past off season.

In his MLS career spanning from 2007-2010 and then again from 2013-2014, he has appeared in 146 matches, scoring 38 goals and assisting on 15 more. Rogers brings veteran leadership as well as a good rapport with Michael Bradley, who played with Rogers in the 2010 World Cup.

Findley, who has 11 national caps with the US National team, decided to leave the MLS in 2010 and was signed with Nottingham Forest of the English Championship division. He suffered a thigh injury in February 2011 while over in England and missed 12 weeks. He came back during the 2011-2012 season to score seven goals, which was third best for the club. The next season he struggled to find playing time and was subsequently loaned to Gillingham of England's Second Division.

He returned in January of 2013 and his rights were acquired by RSL after a trade with Portland.

When healthy, Findley provides a reliable option up front and experience in different leagues as well as his experience at the national level as well.
