August is so Fine

Photo Cred: Walking the Red

TFC won one game in August of 2012 and 2013 COMBINED. In 2014 (so far), The Reds have flipped the script and suddenly found a way to win games in the month of August. 2 wins in 2 games. A perfect 6 points. 3 more to go and all signs are that TFC will compete and have an opportunity to win in all of them.

Shakeup in the East

The win in Columbus Saturday night was massive for TFC. Did they bring home the Trillium Cup? Yes. Did they take 9 points this season from the Crew? Yes. Did they complete the season sweep? Yes. Did they get a lot of help elsewhere in the Eastern Conference over the weekend? Yes.

Oduro returns to Columbus

Dominic Oduro has been a journeyman in Major League Soccer. He started his professional career with FC Dallas after being selected in the 2nd Round of the MLS SuperDraft in 2006. Oduro played one year of college soccer at VCU and also played in 2005 for the former USL side, the Richmond Kickers Future. Now in his 12th year in the league and playing for his 6th club, Oduro is only the 11th player in league history to play for 6 different teams.

When TFC and Columbus kickoff Saturday night at Crew Stadium, Oduro will be back where he spent the entire 2013 season and part of this season playing. TFC acquired on June 6th in exchange for midfielder Alvaro Rey. When the trade was made, GM Tim Bezbatchenko had great hopes and plans for the Ghanaian wide midfielder:

"Dominic is a player that we have had our eye on for quite some time, and we are pleased to finalize this deal and bring him to Toronto FC,” Toronto FC general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a club statement. “He is a player that has a tremendous amount of speed and adds a lot to a team’s attack. His experience in MLS is another important factor, as he has proven that he can consistently score goals in this league from a variety of positions.”

Oduro's speed and athleticism has been a huge asset to TFC. Scoring 2 goals and assisting in 4 more, he certainly made his presence known in the 10 matches he has appeared in. Oduro certainly has a personality of his own. A devout lover of Papa John's pizza and seen sporting many different hairstyles, he makes it easy for fans to gravitate toward him.

Here's to hoping Oduro is here for many years to come because the impact he has had on the club already cannot be denied.
